Deciding not to look

March 10th, 2011 at 02:48 am

As the news from our state capitol gets worse and worse, I've decided rather pointedly not to look at it for another couple of days. I've got a lot to do at school and at home, and the anger and sadness about the direction the state is headed is slowing me down.

I'll come back to it perhaps over the weekend, but I need a mini-vacation from it.

I had to park on campus today to the tune of $7. We had four inches of wet slushy snow this morning and there wasn't a street spot anywhere.
No other spending except that. Spaghetti tonight for dinner.

Bah--but need to get to work....

Probably a good idea. I'm from Wisconsin, too, and you probably don't want to know what happened in the Senate tonight. :-(

My facebook page is popping up with something about every 10 seconds. It looks awful. I'm having a glass of wine and going to bed.

You better wake up to an irish coffee or hot tody. There was an end run and the unions have lost - so far. I am sure there will be a MASSIVE, LONG, EXPENSIVE court battle. We, in IL, will miss your dem legislators.

I'm pretty sure the fight's not over, but yeah, this latest low blow was pretty crushing. At least it did show "it's not the budget" once and for all. Hopefully it will wake even more people up.

As Wisconsin goes, so goes America, so I'm really hoping this fight isn't over.

I really hate the Koch brothers. Born millionaires, handed all the tools to stay millionaires, will die millionaires, but nothing's ever enough for them.

What they did has to be illegal - or at least unconstitutional! Who cares what the people want - they're going to get their way however they can.

It's pretty discouraged here, but as ceejay says, most people, me included, are determined to keep fighting. I'm making a big list of products I'll no longer buy and telling their manufacturers why--the Koch Brothers Georgia Pacific and Northern TP, Johnsonville Sausage, and other products as well. As most of you know, I do lots of freelance work to supplement my outrageously high state salary, and I'm disturbed to find that one of my best clients gave $20K to the Walker campaign. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to handle all of this. But life's a learning process, and I'm sure I'll seek input as I muddle through with these decisions.

Marv--As much as you're sorry to see our senators leave, believe me, we could use them back here.
