Food, Food, Food

September 26th, 2011 at 04:33 am

Reading over today's posts, it seems we're all thinking about and talking about food. So yep, me too. It poured all day, and I made what was reputed to be "The World's Best Pot Roast" from an article in Cooks Illustrated. Not having eaten every pot roast recipe ever devised, I'm not sure I could swear to that, but it was pretty darn good.
Besides making and eating pot roast, I went to church, graded papers and did some lesson plans. I spent 15 minutes trying to think about how I could go to a Bob Dylan/ Mark Knopfler concert in London in November before deeply sighing and giving up. If I find $1000 on the sidewalk tomorrow, I'll send you all a postcard from there.

Heh, I was invited to an intimate concert given by Tim Friese-Greene in Copenhagen in August. I didn't go: couldn't afford it. Then I read how he played live some compositions never performed in public before, but recorded close to 25 years earlier, including my favourite song.

Paulette: I'm holding out hope that this may yet fly. I doubt it, but you know me, the sporadic optimist. And now I have to know--What song is it?

Click on the link in my name to hear the one he performed in Denmark. The other fave song T F-G cowrote you've probably heard a few times as it was covered with great success and won "BMI Song of the Year" award 20 years after it was first released.
