Dangerous Grocery Stores

March 27th, 2008 at 08:42 pm

My local grocery is pretty mundane; it has a decent enough produce sections, ok meat, and floral, and bakery. The prices are ok, and the specials good. I stay within budget frequently when I'm there.
But put me in the "upscale" grocery store, and my self-control seems to slip away. The bakery is oooh so tempting, the ready-to eat foods look so appealing, the plants, the wine, the beautiful expensive out-of season produce--I become transported to another lifestyle and spend too much.

Am I alone in this horrible temptation? I've got to stay away from there--even their specials!

We have a mega something store in the next town that has a huge bakery section right in front of the door. And, a huge produce section and three different types of meat sections, I believe. One organic style meats, one regular and one with lots of seafood. And that is just the first portion as you walk in. It has all sorts of foods and even a discount book section and a music dept. I would go nuts in there if it was closer and I used it regularly.

I have to go in Whole Foods for specific items and directly OUT! I'm totally with you on that one.

Oooh. Whole Foods is dangerous! I spend half my time in there looking at the pretty housewares. I can't count the number of times I've had one of those gorgeous enamel colanders in my hand before I bonk myself on the head with it and put it down.
