Target Under $100

October 26th, 2008 at 01:24 am

In some sort of miracle, I got out of Target under $50 today. Target almost always gets $100 out of me, so I feel very lucky. Plus, I went into Old Navy to return the shirt they'd overcharged me on last week (which I found cheaper at Target), and they handed me a $5 off coupon for "Freaky Fun Day." End result--a pair of free socks for me. Not a major thrill, but good enough for today.

Did anyone else see that Lisa Ling report shown on NewsHour where she followed companies that "trashed out" foreclosed homes? I think you can see the clip at PBS.org. It was an unbelievable look at the consumerist economy and the things people leave behind. It's worth taking a look at.

Ha ha ha... I know what you mean about Target. It used to be the running "joke" that we never got out of there under $60. Then we realized it wasn't funny and we were buying a ton of stuff we didn't need. I had to force myself to stay away from there for a while and now it's just habit. I got out of there for under $40 Friday night but I was buying really fun stuff: drain cleaner, baggies, dishwasher detergent, dog food. Oh I did splurge on a purse for $4.24 but I needed a new one anyways. 75% off is great!

I'v seen that news reel about that company that cleans out foreclosed homes. It was a real eye-opener. And very sad, overall, as if people left in a real big hurry.

One of my friends says the only way to get out of Target cheaply is to NOT get a cart. I tried it, but gathered up so much that I kept dropping things. But I do think the size of those carts just begs to be filled.
