Mourning the Demise of Walgreen's Easy Saver

May 6th, 2009 at 09:24 pm

I'm heartbroken that Walgreen's has gone the way of CVS with the dumb register rewards. I loved the Easy Saver catalog and the refillable gift card with the 10% bonus.

I'm speculating the shorter expiration date on the Register Rewards and their easier-to-lose flimsiness has something to do with the bad corporate decision (at least bad for me) at Walgreen's.

Bah--and they're a lot harder to use too.
Double bah.

I agree with you 100%!! I accumulated approx. $100 worth of RR and I need to figure out what to use them.

Yes I always lose RR. I think I've gotten them a few times but have only used them once. They always expire on me. I wish they would go with a card like CVS.

I, too, was bummed about the demise of the rebates at Walgreen's, but you can still get some awesome deals with the register rewards. Read the Money Saving Mom blog, and find out how some readers make a "killing" on Walgreen's deals using the register rewards. You have to be disciplined, and get the deals in more than one transaction, but it is worth it!

Thanks Nance! I checked that blog right after I read your post and stopped by Walgreen's on my way home. I still don't much like the register rewards, but I got several things free. Thanks a bunch for referring me to the site!
