Problem Ironed Out

April 25th, 2013 at 01:49 pm

Following the sage SA advice, but still chuckling about the ironing jokes, I've purchased a Rowenta iron on sale at Target. And yes, I saved 5 percent with my RedCard.

Yesterday was very productive. I went to the bank to deposit the flex spending checks, (w)Al green's for my husband's instant coffee fix earning Balance points along the way, Noodles for a free pasta lunch courtesy of a coupon received, then the charity shop to dump off donations, Target for the iron, then finally the grocery store. It seemed like one of those charmed days where you actually remember your shopping bags, your coupons, and get great deals.

Then DD's science project hit. Yuck. We spent four hours helping her paint, assemble, and label mini-amusement park rides demonstrating Newtonian laws. Other students had two weeks to complete this, but she was under a time crunch because of our holiday. Thankfully we all avoided shouting and slamming doors, but there were a few almost tears. And it's done.

Ha, I missed the silly comments on the original; thanks for alerting me to them! NT irons his work clothes regularly, but the few times I deem something of mine to be too wrinkly, it's a big production as I struggle to remember how to use it, and loudly complain about having to do it. Or I just cajole AS or NT into throwing my ironing in with theirs. Wink

Well I iron still, but not much. And my daughter knows how (12 y.o. and she used to think it was a fun job not so long ago).

But I hear ya on the school project scenario. I don't think we are over scheduled but still have much too much stress getting ready for things like: a weekend girl scout camp out. Why? Firstly, the daughter must look ahead and plan for not being around to do homework almost all weekend. There is a scout grocery shopping trip the day before the camp and she wants to add that to the schedule. However, I do not approve the use of her time (and she is resisting my decision). Another duty is for several of the girls to pre-make pancakes to bring for the camp so she will be cooking the afternoon before. And I insist on cleaning up, without rushing and impatient attitude. Finally I insist that some shred of her family responsibilities be dealt with beforehand at least her own laundry (though her room is also going to HAVE to be tidy). Did I mention I advise her to pack at least a day before in a calm, orderly manner (especially due to the pancake cooking)? Ugh, send angelic patience.

How nice you worked out the wrinkles to your iron dilemma...ironing isn't one of my favorite jobs either.
