Bit the Airfare Bullet

February 26th, 2012 at 02:59 am

All the oil price rumbling sent me to book our summer flights to the UK. I tried a dozen ways to make it cheaper--through the Chase Rewards, using my American miles--all in different permutations. But I ended up booking on Virgin--which is cheaper with a child--and just got it done. It wasn't pretty, but I'm worried it will just get worse.

The rest of the day was devoted to grading, laundry, and all the other scintillating fun parts of my life.
Four days until February-itis lifts?

Yay. March just SOUNDS so much better than February.

Yes, gas has been creeping up here too; it's now around $3.86 a gallon, with all our CT taxes.

Last spring I hurried to buy airfare to a summer conference because of gas hike rumblings. Turned out the fares went down after I bought. I sometimes wonder if they just can't keep themselves from sensationalizing everything.

I bought gas yesterday for $3.74 a gallon. That's not a new high for this area.

I guess I don't want to have to think about it anymore. And it's easier for us to pay for it now while I have a regular paycheck as it hurts me to pull the money out of savings in the summer.
