Marching Through March

March 29th, 2018 at 03:43 am

Hello SA friends: I'm still running behind, but had a happy moment last night as I created my schedule for the rest of the semester. There's something lovely about typing "Last Class" on May 10. My evening adjunct class has started up too, and seems to be going well.

Not a lot of financial news except plenty of things on the "to-do" list. I still haven't done our taxes, we have an appointment to get DD's passport renewed tomorrow, and we're planning summer vacations.

I battled a cold for too many weeks this winter, and have decided many things need to take a back seat to getting plenty of sleep and eating right. I'm also enjoying DD's break, while rarely happening at the same time as mine, is still fun. She is slightly unhappy that so many of her richer schoolmates are on huge holidays, but I do remind her she had almost three weeks in Europe last summer. But the French club is in Martinique, several in Mexico or Florida, and another in Paris with yet another in Argentina. Sometimes I wonder about living in an affluent area--lots of comparisons for those of us whose pockets aren't quite that deep.

We spent a cool $200 at the vet in a couple days as the dog seems to have eaten something that inflamed her gum and caused her a lot of pain. I did declutter a bit and donate some books, and sold some others.

Lots more to do, but spring is almost, sort of, kind of, here.

Wise to eat well and get sleep. I increased my vitamin D3 with K2 to 10,000 IUs this winter. Not one cold and definitely not the flu. There are studies suggesting this can make a big difference. Something to look into if you find yourself getting colds frequently.

I'm in an affluent area, too, and I think my grandsons are starting to be aware of discrepancies in living styles. I'm sure many of their high-flying friends are deep in debt, however.

I hope the extra sleep and good food helps you to feel better soon.

There is a satisfaction to typing "last class" and realizing you have something to mark off your lost.

I understand your daughter's feelings about her friends and their fancy spring break. I never had the money to go away on spring break. Funny thing, two different couples I know who are both complaining about not having money have traveled to go to spring break and here I sit, in my own little cozy paid off home, not going anywhere!

    Take care of yourself!
