java jive

January 25th, 2008 at 05:41 pm

My only spending yesterday was on coffee. Not fancy lattes--although I really wanted one--but just coffee at the university spot to get me through the morning classes, and coffee --ugh-- from the machine to get me through the 4+ hour evening class.

Perhaps I should volunteer to make coffee for students? I had one fall asleep the FIRST day of class.

Today's devoted to some freelance editing work and might just turn out to be a NS day.

The whole "latte" factor thing drives me bonkers!

Let me first say, I don't drink coffee, EVER! (so telling me in order to save money I need to cut my daily coffee habit back doesn't work)

Next they say, instead of eating lunch out 5 days a week, cut it back to 2 or 3 days a week. (I have never done that ever either @@ I probably eat lunch out once every other week and usually my boss buys lunch - so that means I MAY pay for lunch out once a month and I rarely spend more than $3 - - again, not really helping with the saving money thing)

99% of the so-called ideas to save money are for people who obviously have disposable income to blow on "crap." (IMO it is crap, I don't care that people spend their money on *crap*, it is THEIR money)

I would love, just once, to read some money saving ideas that are ALL *normal*, not a few mingled with most that don't apply to every single (okay, obviously there could/should/would be exceptions...) person.

Yikes! I have to say that they ask me often just what is "normal?" I will sometimes say things about "normal" stuff since I am not "normal." And they say there is really no such thing as "normal." So, I doubt there are ideas that are universal or normal. Frankly, I love all ideas. The kookier the better. That's the way things are invented....

I remember in an Art History class one time almost nodding off. Luckily there was a cute guy two rows ahead, b/c my teacher seemed to think she was teaching to a bunch of stones ... she had no people skills. I'm sure you're a better teacher, but I just remember going home everyday after that class and taking a nap. YAWN

I walked passed a class with only about 4 kids in it and one guy was fast asleep (in the front row). I could not believe it

Really, if you spend that much money on something for yourself, you should take advantage of it. Sleeping through it is outrageous. Of course, you could look at it from their stand point, at least they showed up.

I'm happy to announce sleeping student woke up long enough to drop the class.
