Does the Grocery Store Make You Tired?

November 5th, 2008 at 11:17 pm

It makes me tired--even with a list, even if I do the shopping with DH. And I see so many folks lately inspecting the unit pricing, reaching for the back of the shelf bargains, I think there's at least a little anxiety that goes with grocery shopping in this sort of economy.

I did ok with double coupons today--a couple of free things and $2 off our regular coffee--but still it wears me out.

Maybe I should've bought vitamins!

For me, waiting in line is the worst part. I always seem to end up behind the person with a cart full of stuff and not enough money to pay for it, or the person who still writes a check and not only writes a check, but doesn't have it filled out yet. It's my curse.

Yes grocery shopping makes me tired too. Smile But I do love grocery day as it is my challenge to get as much good food for as little as possible. I always love to just crash with a few munchies after getting home. Smile

It does! I'm not sure whether they put something in the air, or its the lines, the maze that the store tries to make you run through, or the guy on the cellphone standing in front of you asking what item to buy. I have been sorely tempted to pick something and put it in his cart. The combo just makes me go all zombie. It helps if you can make it a commando raid - get in, get out. Sometimes I play a game and profile what kind of person buys painting tape, bag of salad, buffalo wings, and AA batteries. Oh wait, that's me.

lol. i actually LIKE grocery shopping... i find it relaxing. looking at new products, finding cheaper ones, finding specials. walking up and down the aisles. using my greenbags. and then getting home and putting them away and looking at my nicely stocked fridge/pantry.

i must be one of those 'weird ones'

I don't mind it when I go by myself, but when BF goes with me, he takes forever! And he insists on going up and down EVERY SINGLE aisle, instead of just the ones where we need stuff... Boys, LOL

Husband does most of the food shopping. He enjoys it. I probably do, too, but a key is that I rarely have to go at times when the stores are busy. There are whole aisles I never walk down and others that I only occasionally walk down.

Thanks to you all for making me feel not so all alone! I was behind 8 eighteen year boys who bought the oddest things. I'm with Baselle--I'm always constructing menus and profiling folks from the things in their carts.

One of my friend's dads used to put things in people's carts when they weren't looking--Weird things too--like cow tongues and big ugly smoked fish.
