Need Grocery Store Diversity

May 14th, 2011 at 09:38 pm

Our city is dominated by one grocery store chain--and it seems lately they've divided their stores into upscale and not upscale. The non-upscale one closer to our house has gone from bad service and stocking to worse. I never leave there without muttering how bad they are, hos many things they're out of, and how they can't seem to stock things without blocking the aisles completely.
I'm always unhappy when I leave there.

But it's close, and it's cheap.

We need more grocery stores!

We shop at Festival Foods. Love, love, love it. Cannot say enough good things about it, customer service is excellent, food quality is excellent. We are going to miss it when we move. We used to be where you are, so I know how you feel.

Have you ever talked to the store manager about your frustrations? If they are out-of-stock they are losing sales/profit and making aisles difficult to navigate is like shooting themselves in the foot.

If you can give him a concise outline of what you want, you may get it. If not, I would e-mail head office CC-ing regional and national if applicable as this store is not meeting the needs of the community it expects to serve.

Frankly, I would vote with my feet and take my buying power elsewhere. It's often cheaper and fresher to buy at non chain, ethnic food stores.

I'm looking forward to reading about your progress on these fronts in the months to come!
