BloodBath and Beyond

September 16th, 2011 at 06:34 pm

Sorry for the gory title; ever since I saw "The Simpsons" episode retitling Bed,Bath, and Beyond; I can't help thinking of it that way.

I dropped a quick $40 at the Bloodbath today. My increasingly dramatic DD has tremendous hair snarls despite the marvels of modern conditioner, so I bought her a satin pillowcase just like my mom had in the 1970s. Let's hope it helps with the back-of-the-head snarl which is more like a tumbleweed than hair.

Also purchased were more VacuVin corks,Britta water filters, and some of those socks with aloe and lotion for part of a birthday gift.

Our local BB and B is a strange place. They seem to be always hiring, even in this market, and their employees are incredibly chirpy.

I'd suggest that you price check things like that on Amazon.com before buying them at BB&B. For things that you don't need immediately, you can often get a better deal at Amazon.

Great idea, Steve. Any of those specific things?

I've just checked Amazon--and I think I did ok at BBB. The Brita filters were on sale for $19.99 and had a $4 rebate. The four stoppers for VacuVin were the same price I paid too. And I had a $5 off coupon at BBB so I think we at least were the same as Amazon. But I will certainly check them next time!

Have you tried having her sleep with her hair in two braids? That always stopped the nasty snarls from forming overnight on my daughter's head when her hair was long. Another thing that helps if her hair is particularly thick is to use a hair pick instead of a comb or brush. Much easier to get through the tangles with.

When searching for Brita filters, make sure to check all options and compare unit prices. You'll find everything from single packs to 10 packs and every number in between. The bigger pack isn't always the best unit price. Sometimes we buy 4 or 5 or 7 or whatever is cheapest per filter.
