Server Problems?

October 5th, 2011 at 06:19 pm

Is it just me or are we having server issues? I couldn't log in last night at all and was bereft at the thought of a night without checking in with everyone.

No money spent yesterday except for DD's piano lessons which seem to do no earthly good. How much do folks pay for 30 minutes of children's lessons?

It isn't just you. I couldn't log in on either my son's machine nor a library's workstation. What convinced me it was a server-side issue was that I couldn't log in on my husband's computer.

Yes, it was weird. I could get into individual blogs, but the overall Saving Advice homepage was completely blank. Glad that order has been restored!

Yes -- we are still working on the situation.

@starfishy: I still can't log in to SavingAdvice. (note to jeffrey: Running Chromium browser on Ubuntu Linux, with family filter software going on.) I'm going to cultivate the virtue of patience and find other stuff to do to fight the urge to spew personal finance update doggerel on other people's posts (not counting this one!) :-D

We pay $95/month for a 30 minute piano lesson. I say mom actually pays for it for my DD.

We are paying $20 per 1/2 hour (dirt cheap if you ask me). I used to charge $35 a decade ago as a student teacher, but was HCOLA and I don't think I charged less than the certified teachers I taught with. I believe a local public school also charges $20 per half hour for public lessons, so is probably on the low side of things.

I haven't been able to get in until just now. I was assuming the site got hit by a DDoS attack like the ones that have hit Live Journal over the summer. I am glad it is back. I was having withdrawals.

I haven't been able to get on at all until this morning. I see others got on yesterday, but I could not. Ah well, glad to be back on now.

We're all glad things are better.
Thanks Jeffrey! I'm moving your contact details to my emergency list!
