Still Grading

December 9th, 2011 at 01:51 am

And likely to be that way for another couple of days.
I left the house twice today--once to go to a faculty meeting and then again to take DD to Kumon. I think I'm too submerged in it. I burned the sandwich rolls while making dinner, forgot to defrost the chicken we were going to eat, and left the dog outside for 45 minutes. I'm a focus freak. I get in the groove and can't do anything else without disrupting my pattern. I spent nothing today except for 8 cents tax on Advent calendar fillers on my way home from school. CVS extra bucks paid the rest.

Back to it.

Say, how much does it cost for Kumon? We had some friends a few years ago (we lost touch since moving overseas) who had their daughter in Kumon and for them it leads to results that are astonishing. I'd like to augment my daughter's academic work when we return to the States, but I also want some insurance that it's worthwhile. What has your Kumon experience been like overall?

Hi Jerry: It might vary from location to location, but Kumon here costs $100/month with discounts if you have more than one subject. I'm a walking advert for Kumon. DD's math scores have leapt so much that her teacher double-checked everything, then brought in the academic counselor at her conference to talk to me. It's a fair pile of work, but it has been wonderful for us.
