Dipping A Toe In

April 26th, 2013 at 06:40 pm

I went to a meeting with university colleagues today for a committee on which I normally serve. It's the first I've seen of many of them since I've been back. One of them is retiring the end of term, and she's been a stalwart worker, so I figured I'd better step in and pick up some slack. Since everyone else is busy with the end of the semester, I took on lots of the work. It really won't take more than half a day, but I have time and energy right now.

I bought a coffee and scone at the meeting, and afterwards zipped over to the charity shop to donate two more loads of stuff. I'm thrilled, really thrilled, to be getting rid of so much stuff. Long may it continue.

More meetings tonight, but looking forward to a warm sunny weekend!

I'd like to de-clutter in hopes of enticing spring-like weather from a winter that doesn't seem to end. Can you offer generalities about what to let go?

snafu: I went through my lingerie drawer, and because I lead such an exciting life, I found three pairs of long underwear, I also had very heavy ski socks--several more pair than I'd ever need. Cleaning the entry way close,t I found very frayed tatty gloves, outgrown rainboots, an umbrella for a very small child. My car was full of flyers, plastic spoons and just plain junk. I also had way too many pairs of pjs. Some of the less attractive ones made it to the charity shop box too. In the winter I often wear a fleece vest around the house, but someone had given me a bright red one that is pretty ugly. That went along with some of my mom's things. I'm tall and I have pants that are too short. I also tend to keep too many "outside work" clothes like jeans for yard work. One or two pair of those went too.
