Off the Hook

May 3rd, 2013 at 04:44 am

Ah, the final word came at noon today: No jury duty and no more for another four years. As much as I'd like to think I have the demeanor for an all-star jurist, I suspect they'd eliminate opinionated me pretty quickly.

To celebrate, I cleaned the bathroom. Further news on that exciting front on the decluttering forum. But I did find a very strange pint ice cream container full of some liquid and pine needles stashed in the back of the bathroom vanity. My DD gets these hare-brained ideas to cook up flower or pine scented lotions etc. Who knows how long that's been there.

I've finally been able to make a vet appointment for the dog's surgery. The cost is daunting, but we love the dog.

I think I'd be an "All-Star Jurist" too! HA! And I am also very opinionated.

Our DD has been known to make similar "experiments". lol.

Your pup is getting a TPLO, right?

Not sure what a TPLO is, LF? She is getting her crucia ligament repaired and her patella stabilized. I think I did that kind of lotion making at her age too. I seem to remember shredding some of my mom's soap for "soap flakes."

The voir dire I had was pretty interesting - they packed 150 of us in a room with our numbers (1-150) and had a talk show - type discussion of the general issues of the trial, trying to feel us out. I spoke up some. Did this for three sessions - I think it took a day and a half. Then they sat the first 12 in the jury box, and each side could toss potential jurors out "Juror number x, the court thanks you for your service, but you may leave", and the next person sat in the box.

I was 101, the second alternate. We broke for lunch, and during that lunch, the first alternate was excused. It would have been good to know what happened, just in case you needed to bail! Big Grin
