Targeted

February 16th, 2017 at 05:59 pm

I need some inspiration from my SA buddies. I did a textbook review for a publisher, but instead of sending cash, they all seem to be using Tango giftcards lately. I thought the most useful one would probably be Target, and I hoped they'd just let me apply it to my redcard, but after a lengthy chat session with the very nice rep, it seems you need to use them every time you shop either on your phone or through target.com. Ugh

I know me--if I let it linger I'll forget all about it, so I like to use at least a chunk of it on Target.com. We have no pressing needs, so I think I'll spend some on laundry detergent (man, am I fun), my DH wants an air compressor to keep our tires inflated, and we cold probably use a new set of sheets. But it's $300. Maybe I could set a weekly reminder to buy whatever we might use and that is on sale?

Other ideas from you brilliant minds?

So, you can only use it at Target.com? I checked it out - they sell everything! - and ship here now too. I like the idea of buying stuff like laundry detergent and that air compressor. I think setting a weekly reminder would be a good idea - maybe stock up on non-edible items that you would normally get when shopping? Then it's less money out-of-pocket too.

Thanks, Sarah. One of the sites I looked at said dog food will be on sale next week, so maybe if I make it a Monday or Wednesday morning list item, it will work. I knew they ship there--my Windsor friend is a Target fan and she's always reminding me!

How about toiletries, clothes, storage totes, garden supplies, travel toiletries, day planners, luggage, movies, books, magazines, shoes, and holiday gifts? I would probably buy stuff that I use a lot of and won't go bad if it is sitting for awhile, like toilet paper, laundry detergent, paper towels, etc. Just a few ideas.

I took a first shot at it today and used a bit over $100. I went through Swagbucks, but not sure it will give me the 2% back. I got laundry detergent, Ro-tel tomatoes (we use a lot of them in soup), toilet paper, an air compressor for DH, various hygiene supplies, navy tights, cups of applesauce DD puts in her lunch, and soup stock base. One of the bargain sites says dog food will be on sale next week, so I'll hold off on that until then. We may get another down alternative duvet. It's been kind of fun, but I've been sensible. They have some very cute housewares--I may splash out a bit on the last $50 or so when I get down to that. No butter beans were bought.

Put ... down ... the butter beans! They're just lima beans trying to con you! Wink

I was going to say gifts too, but sounds like you have a plan!

We go through a lot of tinned tomatoes too. Hope you get the 2% back.
