Devastating Totals

A friend from Minnesota has an elderly mom in a care facility there where now 17 people have died of COVID, while another's mom is across town where another 18 have died. The numbers in those care facilities are just staggering. Please keep these folk in your thoughts and prayers while the arguments for and against quarantine continue.

We spent nothing today, and my garden seeds have arrived. Tomorrow the hair scissors come. I'm busy busy teaching and trying to keep my mind clear for students and spirits up for them and my family.

    Prayers for all to be healthy. Wish they would get those people outside for sun and Vitamin D, or a least be supplementing the. The science shows that most Americans are deficient, causing the risk for any respiratory illness to be greater. Lots of studies on PubMed. They did put patients outside during 1918 flu with great results. My reading on infectious illness over the last few years does point to crowded living conditions being a problem with spread, which of course a nursing home, prison or cruise ship are examples of. The results the functional medical doctors get with their Covid patients are amazing and I wish was in more widespread practice, as I believe more lives could be saved.

    In New Jersey, 40% of COVID19 related deaths were elders in nursing home. During Easter weekend, one nursing home in Sussex County had 24 deaths. I commend our governor for not caving to the pressures of reopening the state.

    I also applaud our Governor in Maryland for staying strong and not reopening too soon. Our highest death tolls have also been in nursing homes.

    I've been reading about Vitamin D too, CB. It's a long winter in MN nursing homes, and I suspect many are Vitamin D deficient. It would help with bone health too, yes?
    Thanks for your prayers. I get very weary of folks who dismiss these deaths.
