Not Much New

May 2nd, 2020 at 03:56 am

We got another Costco order today, dropped some things off at the church food donation, and I wrote course proposals and graded homework.

That's about it in my world.

I saw this story and thought about Keeping it Frugal, Laura. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/01/us/new-mexico-town-lockdown-coronavirus-trnd/index.html

I've been reading about that (on FB I am subscribed to a Navajo FB page and a NM news page.) Gallup was the main city I would go into (mostly on the weekend) to get groceries or other necessities. Once in awhile I'd go to Grants (where my dentist was located.) Gallup and Grants are the BIG cities for a lot of people in NM ... so this would definitely be a hardship. The influx of cases on the Navajo reservation is quite alarming - a lot of it though I think is kind of similar to Italy's situation. Most families live multi-generational. There's also quite a few who don't have running water ... the school I worked at actually had a water truck which would go out a few times a week to fill water tanks of people on the rez. I do wonder how the kids are getting on - Our school had such a large portion of students who qualified for free and reduced lunches, that they just did it across the board.

We saw that story on the news. I would think that would be absolutely scary.
